In 2 Kings chapter 4, we learn about the widow who sought to recover from the loss of her husband. She was faced with the challenge of losing her sons to those creditors who had been instructed to recover the debts left by her husband. She turned to Elisha the prophet and, in spite of his surprising advice to find and fill jars with her oil, obeyed. The result? Her debts repaid and a household enjoying financial recovery.
We recognise that honesty in what we say and do is a standard to live by, but for some this is a struggle. Handling our finances requires honesty to ourselves and to others. Have you ever been tempted not to pay for something or to pick up something that does not belong to you?
After discovering I had contracted a life threatening disease while in the pursuit of building my publishing company, I was prayed for by the elders and subsequently experienced the supernatural peace of God. In fact, my biggest concern was not the disease but the fear as to whether or not the business would survive without me. How would I live and provide for my wife and three children?
